Established in 2009, Australian owned and operated Loan Barn is a customer focused, professional company who provides short and medium term loans. Based on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland Australia, the business was founded by Paul McLachlan with a plan to be one of the best financial providers in Australia. September 2016 saw Paul’s brother Andrew join the team making it a real family affair. Loan Barn now with a brand new look and feel and with big plans for the future are specializing in Car Loans, Personal Loans, Business Loans and even Second Chance Loans. The brothers believe in excellence in all that we do and it is the motto we live by.

Paul McLachlan

Managing Director

Paul McLachlan – Director

Paul McLachlan has been a proud member of the Sunshine Coast community since 1988, building strong and lasting relationships across both business and local networks.

He married his wife Audrey in 1997, and together they have one son, Mitchell.

With over two decades of experience in the finance industry since 2002, Paul brings extensive knowledge and leadership to his role as Director of Suncoast Loans. He plays a key role in overseeing the strategic direction of the business, ensuring the company continues to grow while maintaining strong governance, compliance, and customer-focused lending practices.

In 2016, Paul partnered with his brother Andrew to expand Suncoast Loans, introducing both online and face-to-face lending solutions. This growth has allowed the business to assist a broader range of customers across Australia, while maintaining a personalised approach to every application.

Paul is passionate about delivering high-quality customer service and believes in giving people a fair opportunity — supporting customers with “a go” or a genuine “second chance,” while always operating within responsible lending obligations.

Outside of work, Paul enjoys travelling in his caravan and spending time with his dog, Brandi the German Shepherd, as well as quality time with his family.

Audrey McLachlan

Operations Manager

Audrey McLachlan – Operations Manager

Audrey McLachlan has been a valued part of Suncoast Loans’ journey for many years, working closely alongside Paul and Andrew and helping shape the business into what it is today.

Since entering the finance industry in 2002, Audrey has developed extensive knowledge and experience across lending operations. In her role as Operations Manager, she plays a critical part in ensuring the business runs smoothly day to day, while keeping the team aligned with current regulatory requirements, compliance standards, and responsible lending obligations.

Audrey is known for her attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and commitment to supporting both customers and staff. Her focus on structure and process helps maintain consistency across the business and supports positive customer outcomes.

Outside of work, Audrey enjoys Pilates and spending time with family and friends, creating lasting memories and enjoying special occasions.

Andrew McLachlan

Sales & Marketing Director

Andrew McLachlan – Sales & Marketing Director

Andrew McLachlan has been part of the Sunshine Coast community since 1988 and has been actively involved in the local business community since 1996.

Andrew joined Suncoast Loans in September 2016 as Sales & Marketing Director, bringing with him extensive experience in sales leadership and business development. As a long-standing business owner on the Sunshine Coast, he has also spent over 25 years as Sales Director of Austral Business Machines, where he has successfully built and managed a high-performing sales team.

At Suncoast Loans, Andrew plays a key role in driving growth, managing dealer and customer relationships, and overseeing marketing strategies that support the company’s continued expansion. Working alongside his brother Paul, the pair have taken the business to the next level, with a strong focus on customer service and practical lending solutions.

Andrew is passionate about building strong partnerships and delivering outcomes that support both customers and the wider business network, while aligning with responsible lending practices.

Michelle Horn

General Manager

Michelle Horn – General Manager at Loan Barn.

With many years of experience in the Australian finance industry, Michelle has built her career helping everyday people find solutions when traditional lenders say no. She understands that life doesn’t always go to plan—credit issues, unexpected expenses, or changes in circumstances can make accessing finance feel overwhelming.

With a strong background in accounts, marketing, and management, Michelle brings a well-rounded and practical approach to her role. Her focus on clear communication and customer experience ensures that every client feels supported, informed, and treated with respect throughout the process.

At Loan Barn, Michelle champions a personalised approach to lending. Rather than relying solely on automated systems, every application is individually assessed, with real people taking the time to understand each client’s unique situation and work towards a suitable solution.

Michelle is passionate about helping clients rebuild confidence around their finances and move forward. Whether it’s a personal loan, vehicle finance, or consolidating existing debt, her goal is to make the process simple, transparent, and approachable.

Outside of her professional role, Michelle is deeply involved in the local community. She proudly volunteers at the Kawana Senior Rugby League Club, where she is committed to supporting grassroots sport and fostering a strong community spirit on the Sunshine Coast

Geordie Bowie

Geordie joined the Loan Barn team at the beginning of 2016. He has been helping our customers both face to face and online to apply and process their loan application to achieve their ultimate goal whether it be a personal loan or car finance. When outside of work he likes to spend time with friends and family and exploring the Sunshine Coast.

Mitchell McLachlan

Mitchell first started working in the finance industry in 2008 when he used to come in during school holidays and help mum and dad in the Pawnbroking business we ran. As time progressed Mitchell got to know a lot of the customer that came into our office and decided when he finished school to work in the finance industry full-time. Since 2017 Mitchell has been working full time with Loan Barn where he has now specialized in customer service and assessing loan applications. Mitch loves to play basketball and can often ben seen at various outdoor courts or playing for Rip City up at the University of the Sunshine Coast.

Jane Dwan

Jane joined the team at Loan Barn in mid-2018. Jane has a vast accounting background, volunteering to be treasurer at the local Rugby League Club to running all the accounts for her and her husbands business for the last 20 years. She specializes in helping customers put together complicated applications to achieve ultimate result. Outside of work Jane spends hours in the garden with her orchids and vegetable garden.
